Arrive & Meet Your CFI
Check in at the 30 Day CFI Academy at Van Nuys Airport. Meet your FAA-certified flight instructor and get a quick overview of what’s ahead.

Pre-Flight Briefing
Walk around the Piper Archer with your instructor. Learn how pilots inspect the aircraft before every flight — you’ll do this yourself one day.

Taxi & Take Off
Strap in, run through the checklist, and taxi to the runway. Your instructor handles the takeoff while you follow along on the controls.

You Take the Controls
Once airborne, it’s your turn. Bank left, bank right, gain altitude — you’ll fly the plane over the San Fernando Valley and the LA basin.

Land & Debrief
Your instructor brings you back to KVNY. Then you’ll sit down for a debrief, answer any questions, and talk about your path forward.

Can I use the Discovery Flight toward my pilot training?
Yes. The $249 Discovery Flight fee is fully applicable toward enrollment in our Private Pilot or any other flight training program.
