Prepare for your Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate with an 86 hr intensive in-person ground school designed for career-focused pilots.
This accelerated program covers Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI), advanced aerodynamics. endorsements, FAA regulations, and instructional techniques to develop confident, professional flight instructors.
Successful completion provides the required FAA endorsement and fully prepares you for the FOI CFI-A Knowledge Tests.

This accelerated program focuses on IFR teaching techniques, instrument procedures, approach operations, weather analysis, FAA regulations, and risk management to prepare you to teach instrument students safely and effectively.

What other materials are required for Ground School?
Students enrolled in Ground School will need the following:
- FAA Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge
- ASA Private Pilot Test Prep 2026
- Rotating Plotter
- E6b
How old do I have to be to enroll in Ground School?
We don’t have a minimum age. As long as students can follow lectures and are interested in learning the concepts, they are welcome at ground school!
Please note: The minimum age to take the Private Pilot Knowledge Test is 15.
Where is the in-person class held?
The in-person class is held at our facilities in Van Nuys Airport.
