Prepare for your Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate with an intensive 30-day CFI ground school designed for career-focused pilots. This accelerated program covers Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI), advanced aerodynamics, endorsements, FAA regulations, and instructional techniques to develop confident, professional flight instructors.
Successful completion provides the required FAA endorsement and fully prepares you for the FAA CFI Knowledge Tests.
COURSE OUTLINE
Call Now1. Learning Theories, Styles,
and Domains of Learning
Understand how people learn and how to tailor your teaching to every student. Covers the building blocks of effective instruction from a psychological and educational perspective.
- Theories: Behaviorism, cognitive learning, and how habits and skills are formed.
- Domains: Cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning — and the three learning styles.
2. Communication Techniques
Master the art of clear, effective communication in and out of the cockpit. Covers verbal, nonverbal, and written communication as tools for better instruction.
- Elements: The communication process — sender, message, receiver, and feedback.
- Barriers: Overcoming confusion, language differences, and student intimidation.
3. Teaching Process
Teaching Methods
Learn how to structure a lesson and deliver it with confidence and clarity. Covers the four-step teaching process and the methods best suited to flight training.
- Process: Preparation, presentation, application, and review in every lesson.
- Methods: Lecture, guided discussion, demonstration-performance, and scenario-based teaching.
4. Designing Effective Lesson Plans
Build organized, goal-driven lesson plans that keep training on track. Covers what every lesson plan needs and how to adapt it to the student’s progress.
- Structure: Objectives, content, schedule, equipment, and completion standards.
- Flexibility: How to adjust a plan in real time without losing instructional focus.
5. Evaluation of Student Performance – Human behavior
Learn to assess your students accurately and understand what drives their behavior. Covers grading standards, critique techniques, and the psychology behind student reactions.
- Evaluation: Characteristics of effective critiques — objective, flexible, and constructive.
- Human Behavior: Defense mechanisms, anxiety, and how motivation affects performance.
6. Principles of planning ground and Flight Training Lessons
Apply FAA-approved standards to plan safe, structured, and progressive training. Covers how to move a student from discovery to proficiency using the training syllabus.
- Ground Lessons: Selecting topics, setting objectives, and using visual aids effectively.
- Flight Lessons: Preflight briefings, in-flight instruction, and postflight debriefs.
7. Instructional Knowledge of Technical Subject Areas
Demonstrate mastery of the aeronautical knowledge required to teach at the CFI level. Covers how to explain complex technical topics clearly to students at any level.
- Topics: Aerodynamics, systems, regulations, weather, and performance — through the instructor’s lens.
- Depth: Going beyond memorization to explain the “why” behind each concept.
8. Proper Single-Pilot Resource
management (SRM) Techniques
Teach students to manage all available resources while flying alone. Covers the six SRM elements and how to coach situational awareness in the cockpit.
- Resources: Information, automation, human factors, and task management tools.
- Teaching SRM: How to introduce and reinforce these skills throughout flight training.
9. Effective Aeronautical Decision
Making (ADM) Skills
Build the judgment skills every safe pilot needs — and learn how to instill them in students. Covers structured decision-making models, risk assessment, and hazardous attitudes.
- Models: The DECIDE model, 3P (Perceive, Process, Perform), and IMSAFE checklist.
- Attitudes: Identifying the five hazardous attitudes and their antidotes in real-world scenarios.
10. Scenario-Based Training (SBT)
Move beyond maneuver repetition and train students to think, not just react. Covers how to design and debrief realistic flight scenarios that develop true pilot judgment.
- Design: Creating relevant, risk-appropriate scenarios tied to real-world flight situations.
- Debrief: Guiding students to self-discover lessons rather than simply being told what went wrong.
