Your Aviation Journey Starts Here
Discovery Flight
The first step is to take a Discovery Flight. This exciting introduction to aviation will give you a taste of the professional flight training you’ll experience with 30 Day CFI Flight Training Academy, a leading flight school in Los Angeles. Your instructor will let you take the controls and coach you through basic maneuvers. It’s an excellent opportunity to find out if flying is something you’d like to pursue.
Private Pilot Ground School
Student pilots will typically start by taking a ground school course to learn the essential material for the Private Pilot Certificate. 30 Day CFI Flight Training Academy’s in-person ground school offers a classroom setting where students can interact with the instructor and participate in additional workshops. The course additionally prepares them for the FAA knowledge test, a multiple-choice exam required for pilot certification.
Flight training can begin either before or after completing ground school. Under the guidance of a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), you’ll start by learning to control the aircraft—practicing take-offs and landings, aerial maneuvers, and simulated emergency scenarios. Once you’ve mastered these skills, you’ll progress to solo flights, where you fly the plane independently. To complete your training, you’ll also work on navigation techniques and fly longer flights. After refining both your flight skills and ground knowledge, you’ll be able to take an exam with the FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE), who, upon successful completion, can issue your Private Pilot Certificate.

Instrument Rating
An instrument rating allows pilots to fly safely in clouds and low-visibility conditions. During training, you’ll learn to navigate solely by reference to instruments, understand essential weather theory, and develop proficiency in procedures such as holds and instrument approaches. Most pilots begin pursuing their instrument rating after earning their Private Pilot Certificate.
Commercial Pilot Certificate
Pilots with at least 250 flight hours are eligible to pursue their commercial certificate, which allows them to fly for compensation or hire. The training includes many of the same maneuvers learned during private pilot training, but performed to significantly higher standards and with greater precision, especially in advanced maneuvers and emergency procedures. Earning this certificate equips pilots with a refined level of skill and professionalism at an established aviation flight school in Los Angeles.
Flight Instructor Certificate
Pilots pursuing an airline career typically need to accumulate additional flight hours to meet hiring requirements. Many choose to become Flight Instructors, allowing them to build time while being paid to fly.
Flight Instructor training differs from other pilot courses because much of the preparation happens on the ground. The focus is on developing strong teaching skills and gaining a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the aeronautical knowledge and techniques required of a competent pilot, supported by experienced mentors at our flight school in Los Angeles.
